How to Transfer Tapes and Vinyl on to CD
November 28, 2008The answer??? ……Digitize them!!!
- A turntable or cassette player
- A Computer
- A computer sound card
- A CD burner or other storage medium
- Any Recording Software
Here is the basic process:
- Connect the outputs of your turntable to a phono preamp
- Connect the outputs of your phono preamp to the inputs of your computer\’s sound card
- Put on a record or tape and record the audio to your computer using some recording software.
- Once the record is on the Computer;s hard drive you can then re-arrange the tracks or create your compilation from other recorded sources using your audio recording/CD creation software
- Burn the CD

Be warned if you’re gonna seriously consider buying BIAS’ Deck. It’s not properly Universal Binary, it barely runs on any Mac which has OSX 10.4 (Tiger) or later, it’s very buggy and it’s currently not in development. Even BIAS themselves on their forum recently recommended Pro Tools instead…
From BIAS, Peak LE (or even better, Peak Pro!) is a much better idea – it’s stereo-only but it’s currently at version 6, is in constant development, and does a lot for the money.
